Physical examination, blood tests, and other tests such as X-rays, computerized tomography (CT) scans, and positron emission tomography (PET) scans are often used to determine how far the disease has spread and how well the body is functioning. A bone marrow biopsy is often done to determine whether the disease has involved the bone marrow.
